Holiday Birds: 511 birds whose names contain the words winter, christmas, snowy, snow, red or green.
Every feather is one bird. Its length comes from the bird's wing measurement, and its colors come from the bird's Wikipedia description, pulled out with natural language processing.
The names promise reds and greens, and the descriptions mostly deliver: the scarlet of Red-crested Cardinals and Red Crossbills, the jade of Green Jays and Green Honeycreepers. Then the snowy birds crash the party in white, grey and black. Snowy Owls and Snowy Egrets are some of the biggest feathers on the sheet, and tiny Winter Wrens some of the smallest.
Snowstorm: the birds are sorted by wing length and gathered into snowflakes, each arm a fan of feathers from birds of similar size. Big birds make big flakes, small birds make small ones, and no two flakes are alike.
Swirls: a flowing field of feathers that rises and falls through the birds by size, so big feathers gather in some currents and tiny ones in others.
Grid: one feather per species in neat rows, each labelled with the bird's name, so you can find your favourite.
Each pattern comes on natural Kraft, deep Forest green or Lemon.
95gsm satin finish paper, FSC or recyclable Kraft. Sheets are 20"x28" (50x70cm); rolls are 28" (70cm) wide.
